The best way to find out is to test the waters as such. Bait up a few lines and drop them down you will soon see.

For me fresh live bait is always great it sends vibrations through the water and bigger predator fish just love to snap up a live helpless fish on the end of a line. Remember though when using live bait to hook up right. The better you present your bait the better odds you have at landing the big one.
